Mr. Latif Aral Aliş, Chairman of Defence and Aerospace Industry
Exporters’ Association (SSI)

Defence is a challenging sector
requiring planned and scheduled
working in a cooperation environment,
demanding solemn investments,
strong human resource, improved
infrastructure, and a strong marketing
network while allowing no room for
error.Over a thousand companies are
operating in Turkish defence and
aerospace industry where more than
30 thousand people are employed.
We (SSI) consider the tendency of the
sector towards exports as a priority
and an obligation. In this era where the
NATO and European Union focus on
joint procurement efforts, proceeding to
international markets and developing
international cooperation have to
remain on the top of our defence and
aerospace industry’s agenda.
This obligation paved the way
to the establishment of the Defence
and Aerospace Industry Exporters’
Association (SSI) in 2011. What we
mainly have on our agenda with
our almost 400 members is “more
international cooperation and more
exporting”. Believing in the importance
of every opportunity, no matter big or
small, we struggle to make use of
each of them. We don’t want to limit
ourselves to the local market and are
aiming to be a global player.
International cooperation is
essential in order to sustain in global
competition and being known is
required for international cooperation.
You may manufacture great products,
conduct seamless production without
failing the production schedule but
without being known, no one would
be aware of your achievement. In this
respect, we assist our companies in
advertising and promotional activities.
Through the Turkish Defence &
Aerospace Promotion and Support
Group namely “Turkish Defence
Alliance – TDA” established in 2013,
we are focusing to create “A Global
Turkey Brand” in defence industry

program.
