‘Turkish Tourism Strategy, 2023’ We try to present you an important case file in each issue of our periodical as much as possible.We discuss tourism in this issue. As you know, all countries do significant plants and programs for tourism because tourism is considered as factory without chimney by the countries and among the important income items for the countries. The historical places of Turkey have become an important target option for the tourism professionals with the geographical position and natural beauty. Of course, the importance of tourism is increasing every day, not just as touristic travelling travels to the historical and geographical sites, with respect to the Istanbul congress tourism, especially health tourism. Turkey has made important preparations in the scope of ‘Turkish Tourism Strategy, 2023’ for the future strategy of the tourism.For the Tourism Strategy, 2023, the goals of 50 million of tourists and a tourism income of 50 billion dollars are set. 50 million foreign tourists, 1.000 dollar expenditure perperson and 50 billion tourism income in total are targeted. The 2016 performance of Turkey is 25 million 352 thousand foreigner visitor and 22 billion dollars of tourism income. Therefore an expenditure of 867 USD per person was made. According to this data, this means that 100 million foreigner tourists on the average come to have an income of 86 billion dollars. Activities are done in order to fulfill the targets of the state in the scope of the strategical plan for 2015 – 2019 period of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. In this scope, the strategical targets are determined under 8 main titles. These are stated as:
• Developing and applying the promotion strategies for creating an international Turkey brand.
• Ensuring that tourism is spread to all periods of the year and all regions of the country, developed by diversifying the alternative tourism types especially health tourism and that the quality is increased in the sector.
In this scope, Turkey and gulf countries are important tourism destinations for each other. In the light of the developments experienced recently, we may state that the relations between Turkey and gulf countries will make a big progress in the future. Strengthening the relations between Turkey and gulf countries will make a substantial contribution to the tourism. We can see that the behavior, presented by Turkey, after JASTA law, threatening all properties belonging to Saudi Arabia in the American banks, accepted in the USA congress, is welcomed in the region. We may state that a substantial tourism investor will come in the gulf countries especially Saudi Arabia because of the law in question. We wish to meet with you again on our next issue…
