Defence is a challenging sector
\nrequiring planned and scheduled
\nworking in a cooperation environment,
\ndemanding solemn investments,
\nstrong human resource, improved
\ninfrastructure, and a strong marketing
\nnetwork while allowing no room for
\nerror.Over a thousand companies are
\noperating in Turkish defence and
\naerospace industry where more than
\n30 thousand people are employed.
\nWe (SSI) consider the tendency of the
\nsector towards exports as a priority
\nand an obligation. In this era where the
\nNATO and European Union focus on
\njoint procurement efforts, proceeding to
\ninternational markets and developing
\ninternational cooperation have to
\nremain on the top of our defence and
\naerospace industry\u2019s agenda.
\nThis obligation paved the way
\nto the establishment of the Defence
\nand Aerospace Industry Exporters\u2019
\nAssociation (SSI) in 2011. What we
\nmainly have on our agenda with
\nour almost 400 members is \u201cmore
\ninternational cooperation and more
\nexporting\u201d. Believing in the importance
\nof every opportunity, no matter big or
\nsmall, we struggle to make use of
\neach of them. We don\u2019t want to limit
\nourselves to the local market and are
\naiming to be a global player.
\nInternational cooperation is
\nessential in order to sustain in global
\ncompetition and being known is
\nrequired for international cooperation.
\nYou may manufacture great products,
\nconduct seamless production without
\nfailing the production schedule but
\nwithout being known, no one would
\nbe aware of your achievement. In this
\nrespect, we assist our companies in
\nadvertising and promotional activities.
\nThrough the Turkish Defence &
\nAerospace Promotion and Support
\nGroup namely \u201cTurkish Defence
\nAlliance \u2013 TDA\u201d established in 2013,
\nwe are focusing to create \u201cA Global
\nTurkey Brand\u201d in defence industry<\/p>\n
program.
\nSimilarly, following the contract of
\nH\u00dcRKU\u015e in 2006, TAI has started an
\nintensive study to design, develop,
\nmanufacture and certify a trainer
\naircraft. The first phase of the project
\nis to realize a trainer aircraft and certify
\nit in accordance with EASA CS23, the
\nfirst flight was performed on August
\n29, 2013, and currently a successful
\nflight test campaign is in progress.
\nTurkish Defense Industry Executive
\nCommittee which is chaired by the
\nPrime Minister, made a decision to
\ninitiate the procurement process for
\nmore H\u00dcRKU\u015e Trainer Aircraft. On
\nDecember 26, 2013 a serial production
\nfor 15 (+40 options) aircraft was signed
\nincluding the conceptual development
\nof H\u00dcRKU\u015e-C, light attack\/armed
\nreconnaissance variant.
\nThe deliveries of the Multi
\nRole Combat Helicopter T-129
\nATAK designed for hot and
\nhigh environmental conditions,
\nincorporating advanced display
\nand mission suite, and weapon
\nsystems, has started and 7 ea T129
\nATAK helicopters were deliveredto
\ntheTurkishArmy.
\nNegotiation for the Turkish
\nUtility Helicopter Project including
\nmanufacturing of 109 ea. Sikorsky
\nT-70 Black Hawk Helicopters has been
\nfinalized, and the contract was signed
\non 21st of February 2014.
\nIn line with the inspirational vision
\nof Turkey towards space, Turkey\u2019s
\nfirst Space Systems Assembly,
\nIntegration and Test (AIT) Center was
\nestablished at TAI premises in Ankara.
\nThe investment of this state of the art
\ncenter is undertaken by Undersecre
\ntariatfor Defense (SSM) & T\u00dcRKSAT.
\nAIT Center which has a
\n9000 sqmclosedarea, consists
\nof the required infrastructure for
\nmeasurements and ground testing
\nof space systems, including
\nMass Properties and Alignment
\nMeasurements, Vibration Tests,
\nThermal Vacuum Tests, Acoustic Tests,
\nEMI\/EMC Tests, Compact Antenna
\nTests, Solar Panel Deployment Tests
\netc. compatible with ECSS Standards.
\nAIT Center will be operated by TAI to
\nserve both national and international
\nGEO & LEO satellite programs.
\nTAI is a reliable partner
\nto world\u2019s leading OEMs like
\nAirbus, Boeing, Lockheed Martin,
\nAgustaWestlandandSikorskyfor
\nAirbus A320 family, A330, A400M,
\nA350 XWB, Boeing 737, 747, 777,
\n787, F-35, AgustaWestland AW139,
\nandSikorsky S-70\/H-60 etc.
\nTurkey will be celebrating the 100th
\nanniversary of the republic in the year
\n2023. Vision 2023 includes a number
\nof pioneer projects, like design of
\nFighter Aircraft, Light Utility Helicopter
\nand as well as development of a
\nRegional Passenger Aircraft. TAI will
\nbe a partner to realize this vision and
\ninternational parties interested in these
\nprograms to share this vision with TAI
\nis invited for further studies.

\nAerospace and Defense market,
